All 19 trapped crew members rescued from a fire in the engine room of a container ship off the coast of Fujian

According to the East China Sea Rescue Bureau of the Ministry of Transport, on the evening of September 4, in the waters 130 kilometers northeast of Xiamen City, Fujian Province, the engine room of the Chinese container ship "Zhongzhou Changhong" suddenly caught fire, trapping 19 crew members on board. The East China Sea Rescue Bureau immediately dispatched rescue helicopters from the Second East China Sea Rescue Squadron to carry out the rescue mission, and dispatched two professional rescue ships "Donghai Rescue 116" and "Donghai Rescue 115" for reinforcements.

Affected by the No. 11 typhoon "Xuan Lannuo", the swell in the sea area was as high as 2 meters, the engine room of the ship in distress caught fire, the main engine lost power, and the situation was critical. In order to ensure the rapid rescue of the trapped crew members, Dong Erfei assigned two rescue helicopters to dispatch at the same time.

Half an hour after takeoff, rescue helicopters B-7345 and B-7328 arrived at the scene and rescued 14 trapped crew members, of which 8 crew members were quickly transferred to nearby ships, and the remaining 6 crew members were brought back to Xiamen Gaoqi Airport. The five crew members at the scene still insisted on staying behind the "Zhongzhou Changhong" ship.

After the rescue ship arrived at the scene, the "Donghai Rescue 116" ship took the 8 rescued crew members and the remaining 5 crew members to the rescue ship. Subsequently, "Donghaijiu 115" and "Donghaijiu 116" carried out fire-fighting cooling of the engine room of the ship in distress.

Up to now, all 19 crew members have been rescued safely, and the ship in distress is still being rescued.
